    Review: Revolve Devotional Bible

    January 20, 2013 / No Comments

Revolve Devotional Bible Reviewed by: Lori Twichell Genre: Bible Publisher: Thomas Nelson Publication Date: July 20, 2010 When I first started looking into reviewing Bibles, the Revolve Devotional Bible for teen girls jumped out at me. The cover is highly recognizable and utterly gorgeous. In chocolate brown tooled leather with a pink leather band around the center, this is a Bible that will stand up and make people take notice. Obviously I needed to know more about what else it contained and why it was so perfectly geared for teen girls. (This is what it said on the box, by the way.) I opened the Bible and saw that the pages,…

Iscariot by Tosca Lee Reviewed by: Lori Twichell Genre: Historical, religious Publisher: Howard Books Publication Date: February 5, 2013 Judas Iscariot. It’s a name irrevocably intertwined with the death of the most famous man in history, Jesus Christ. Anyone who has studied the scriptures knows that Judas betrayed the Messiah with a kiss of friendship. But if the sum total of your knowledge of Judas comes from those few verses, then you don’t know his whole story. Iscariot by Tosca Lee opens with the final moments of Judas Iscariot. We follow his pondering and memories as he explains what led him to this climactic ending. It’s the part of his tale that we…

    Review: The Action Bible

    December 5, 2012 / No Comments

The Action Bible Reviewed by Lori Twichell, Radiant Lit Genre: Non-Fiction/Bible Publisher: David C. Cook Publication Date: September 1, 2010 Recently I reviewed the Action Bible Devotional from David C. Cook and I loved it. So did my kids. It actually created a bit of a sensation in our house. All three of my kids were scrambling to look at it and better yet, READ it!  The devotional covers 52 (one per week) stories and gives kids a lot of activities and insight into the stories. When I found out that the devotional was based on a full Bible, I was hooked. I immediately got in touch with David C. Cook and asked…

Review: The Action Bible New Testament

    December 4, 2012 / No Comments

The Action Bible New Testament Reviewed by Lori Twichell Genre: Non-Fiction/Bible Publisher: David C. Cook Publication Date: March 1, 2012 Not too long ago I had the chance to review The Action Bible Devotional from David C. Cook. My kids were over the moon delighted when, shortly after submitting the review to them, we received copies of The Action Bible and The Action Bible New Testament. The New Testament version of The Action Bible is pretty self explanatory. It contains the same illustrations and text that come from the New Testement section of The Action Bible. Glorious pictures with accompanying Biblical references and text give the Bible a new dramatic style for kids that are just now starting to…

    Review: The Action Bible Devotional

    November 8, 2012 / No Comments

The Action Bible Devotional by Jeremy V. Jones & Sergio Cariello Reviewed by: Lori Twichell Genre: Non-Fiction, Devotional Publisher: David C. Cook Publication Date: September 1, 2012 When I first heard about this book, I knew that it was something I wanted to explore. With three kids that I’m working on homeschooling, I’m always looking at new ways to get them excited about reading, writing and of course, the Bible. I love it when they hear something at church and can come home to find it in their Bibles. So this book seemed to be a slam dunk for me. Filled with vibrant full color pictures that portray 52 of the…
