Review: The Eleventh on Feeln
I received an email earlier this week asking if I would be interested in reviewing a new program on Feeln called The Eleventh. For those of you who haven’t heard, Feeln is a new streaming service that focuses on heartwarming stories that families can enjoy. Their website says: Feeln is the streaming service that brings you heartfelt stories of love and togetherness, anytime, anywhere. Feeln carefully selects every title so you spend less time searching and more time with the stories you love. Feeln brings home the exclusive library of Hallmark Hall of Fame features, handpicked Hollywood movies and TV series, and award-winning originals you won’t find anywhere else. “The Eleventh”…

Review: Breakthrough on National Geographic Channel
What happens when you give six prominent filmmakers the chance to explore subjects that are mysterious, puzzling and close to their heart? You get a television series like Breakthrough. Each week, join a filmmaker on a very personal journey to discover answers to questions that plague not only themselves, but humanity. More like science fiction than documentary, this series covers extreme situations that show us where our future may lead. Is it possible to seamlessly create robotics that work with the human body? Could a pandemic wipe out the whole of civilization? Is there a water crisis looming in front of us? My family and I received these dvds to…

That Grey’s Anatomy Shocker….
You know what happened. Even if you don’t watch the show, you know. If you don’t know, LEAVE NOW. This is a spoiler laden response to Thursday’s Grey’s Anatomy. Twitter was overwhelmed with screaming, crying fans. Facebook had Grey’s Anatomy trending. And the fans of Grey’s Anatomy limped through Friday broken, mourning, confused and the biggest one: Angry. Derek is dead. Let me start things out by saying I’m actually not angry that Derek died. Really, I’m not. Life rarely gets happy endings so yes, it’s nice when it does happen, but the reality is that it often doesn’t. And in a show that has never shied away from death,…

Killing Jesus by National Geographic Channel
Killing Jesus. That’s a pretty heavy sentence in and of itself. And when it describes a television event, it holds a lot of description. No soft, fuzzy bunnies or bright, colorful eggs here. This is the reality of why we celebrate Easter and when you sit down to watch, you might do so with a little trepidation. How graphic will it be? What will they include? More importantly, will they recognize Christ as our Lord and Savior? At least these are the questions that rattled through my mind before I sat down to watch. The first thing that caught me about this show was the historical context. I shouldn’t really…

Television Review: Agent Carter
I rarely review television shows. I’m not sure why this is. I review films and books and products but television isn’t usually something about which I offer commentary. Perhaps it’s because there are so many outlets covering television that it feels like an already saturated medium. There are so many more experienced and profound people than myself offering opinions. Who wants to read mine? However, I’m breaking that pattern to talk about the ABC television show, Agent Carter. Confession: I’m a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) geek. Note, this doesn’t mean I’m a comic book or graphic novel geek. Far from it. I have my own expert named Shell that I…

TV Show Review: Church Rescue
Church Rescue on NatGeo Monday Nights 10:00 p.m. Makeover shows are hot. My family loves to watch pretty much any sort of makeover show they can. We’ve watched personal makeovers, home makeovers, business makeovers and restaurant makeovers. The possibilities are endless. We’ve seen people battle those trying to help them and those who make a 180 degree turnaround and achieve great success. Turns out that for a lot of people, all they need is a little encouragement in the correct direction. When I was asked to check out a new show on NatGeo called Church Rescue, I’ll admit to being hesitant. See, I’m a Christian and the media right now…
