Road Trips, Childhood Memories and a New Movie….

    May 16, 2018 / No Comments

A new movie that came out yesterday (May 15th!) on iTunes, Amazon and showing in various theaters across the country via Tugg, promises fun, childhood adventure and joy to audiences. Called a “modern-day tale of hope, faith and courage based on stories from the Bible” Beyond the Sun is the first movie to ever feature a guest appearance by the Pope himself! Seriously Pope Francis is in this film! Here’s the trailer: Since the film is about childhood adventures, I thought I’d share one that isn’t necessarily from my childhood – but that of my kids. Last year, I took my three teenagers on a road trip across the country. Just…

Guest Post: Sexy Velvet (Alkaline) Water

    September 1, 2017 / No Comments

by Mike McKeown If you’ve been following along here, you know that in recent weeks I’ve been discussing different aspects of anxiety. This is something I’ve run into more times than I can count during my years as a counselor. Often, anxiety is either the directly the cause or a major symptom of whatever has brought the person into counseling. In the first article, Anxiety 101, I went over the idea that not all anxiety is bad. Sometimes we need a low level of anxiety to move forward in our lives. In the second article, Take Back Your Control, I discussed how anxiety can consume our thoughts and what we…

    Red Nose Day May 25

    May 23, 2017 / No Comments

As someone who LOVES British television, I have followed Red Nose Day for years. It’s a fabulous tradition and I’m excited to see it get picked up here in the U.S. So when I got a press release recently, I knew without a doubt that I was going to share it. As we near the start of summer and think about vacations and time off with families there are others who are not nearly as fortunate to enjoy those luxuries. On May 25th NBC television will air Red Nose Day, a live telecast aimed at ending child poverty. Red Nose Day is unique in that multiple charitable organizations will benefit…

    Some thoughts on the #Oscars…

    February 27, 2017 / No Comments

As many of you know, I work in the entertainment industry. For about 12 years, I’ve been blessed to work with everything from television networks to small indie films and box office powerhouses. I don’t claim to know everything,  understand everything or even come close to being at the level of the people honored last night by the Academy. Everything here is just my opinion so take it with whatever size piece of salt you feel necessary. 🙂 I love stories. I always have. From even before the time I could read, I remember cuddling up in corners with books and building stories to go with the pictures. Many of…

Subscription Boxes: What you didn’t know you need to know.

    July 21, 2015 / 2 Comments

So I don’t have a lot of reviews for the subscription boxes yet, but I’ve already learned a few very important things that I thought I should share. There are, of course, the basics. How much is the subscription? Are you locked into a plan? Can you cancel at anytime? What if you don’t want the box? (Some companies allow you to skip a box or choose which box you’d prefer.) Beyond that, if you’re looking at signing up for one (or more!) subscription boxes, here are a few things you might want to explore. What are the shipping rates?  You need to find out if the cost of shipping is…

Guest Post: Three Ways to Pray for Our Military

    June 9, 2015 / No Comments

After my American Sniper post the other day, I had a lot of discussion (via email, Facebook, and Twitter) about the dynamics of the military family. So when I received this article about praying for the military family, I thought it would be a good fit! THREE WAYS TO PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY By Jeremy Stalnecker I am often asked what can be done to support the men and women of our military.  While there are a lot of good answers to that question, care packages are always appreciated especially if they have chocolate chip cookies, some answers may be more helpful than others. As people of faith we believe…
