Review: Bloody Jack: Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary “Jacky” Faber, Ship’s Boy by L.A. Meyer

    June 7, 2013 / No Comments

Genre: Adventure, Audiobooks, Historical Fiction, Young Adult Publisher: Graphia (A Division of Houghton Mifflin) and Listen and Live Audio Publication Date: 8/10/2010 Reviewed by Lori Twichell Mary Faber was a beautiful little girl with hope for a wonderful life when her parents died, leaving her an orphan on the streets of London. With no orphanages at the time (early 1800’s), Mary was forced to learn how to beg, borrow and steal to survive. It isn’t long before Mary gets picked up by a street gang – a good one – full of other unfortunate children who are begging for their daily bread. Run by Rooster Charlie, he teaches Mary everything…

Crock-Pot “My Time Slow Cooker” Review

    April 9, 2013 / 4 Comments

I cannot overstress this enough. I am thrilled to be able to share my review of the Crock-Pot My Time Slow Cooker. When I got it, I was immediately surprised at how pretty it was. (Hey, I know – but seriously this is a pretty slow cooker!) I took it out of the box and loved the design instantly. Shiny stainless steel on the outside reflected the kitchen (yes I had to clean off some of the counters when I took pictures!) and it really does look beautiful sitting on my counter. The design also shows tremendous insight. This is the first Crock-Pot I’ve ever owned that has a switch…

Hello. My name is Lori and I’m addicted to Crock-Pots

    April 8, 2013 / No Comments

A few years ago while juggling my marketing company, homeschooling three kids and assisting a husband who had a severe chronic pain injury, I realized that my family had a problem. We were eating out far more than we were eating at home and we were spinning our wheels where our budget was concerned. I had to make a change. Shortly after I began to research various ways that I could continue to support my (admittedly insane) schedule and yet provide home cooked meals for my kids, I got an invitation to join a group headed up by my friend, Organized SAHM. She had set up a group that would…

Reviewing a Toothbrush?? Yup, I am!

    December 19, 2012 / No Comments

A few weeks ago I got an email asking if I would be willing to review a toothbrush. Obviously not a run of the mill little plastic brush if the company is seeking a review. *shrugs* I review books and movies professionally, so why not a toothbrush?  Sure! The Oral-B® Professional™ Precision 5000 is a technological marvel. When we got it in the mail I opened it up and thought I’d just put it together really quickly and play around with it. And wow was there a lot to play with. Seriously – it has a docking station. And a wifi sync display you can stick on your wall or the mirror. The thing is…
