“I could never homeschool my kids…”

    April 30, 2013 / 2 Comments

I spent many, many years saying those words to pretty much anyone who would ask. I have always believed that homeschooling was ambitious and fantastic – but not for me. I became a pro at giving homeschooling moms props at the same time I said I never would. And then something strange happened. Our public school experience degraded into some sort of news story you might read on the national news. Little by little, our confidence in our school eroded until we felt we really had few other options. First, let me be very honest here. We loved our public school. We volunteered and we were happy with the teachers…

Crock-Pot “My Time Slow Cooker” Review

    April 9, 2013 / 4 Comments

I cannot overstress this enough. I am thrilled to be able to share my review of the Crock-Pot My Time Slow Cooker. When I got it, I was immediately surprised at how pretty it was. (Hey, I know – but seriously this is a pretty slow cooker!) I took it out of the box and loved the design instantly. Shiny stainless steel on the outside reflected the kitchen (yes I had to clean off some of the counters when I took pictures!) and it really does look beautiful sitting on my counter. The design also shows tremendous insight. This is the first Crock-Pot I’ve ever owned that has a switch…

    The Story: He is Risen

    April 5, 2013 / No Comments

For those who don’t know, I attend Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas.  (Many may recognize this as John Hagee’s Church.) This year I was blessed to have the opportunity to assist in the writing of the Easter Pageant and the production turned out beautifully!  Here’s a picture from the production:   For those who are interested, you can view it for the next three days for free at GETV.org.  It’s on “Recently Added” – just click on that and look for “The Story: He is Risen.” If you take the time to watch it, I’d love to hear what you thought!

    Biblical Messages in Wreck-it Ralph

    April 3, 2013 / 7 Comments

I love it when you’re watching a movie or television program and suddenly the story line or the characters delve into something that’s a deeper truth. You know, something that’s completely unexpected and probably unintended, but shares a powerful message. I’ve seen Wreck-It Ralph several times over the past few weeks but when I was watching this past Sunday, several things hit me all at once about the story. If you haven’t watched the movie yet, there will be spoilers ahead – so consider yourself warned! Okay – still here? Let’s go.

    Starting New Ventures

    March 20, 2013 / No Comments

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found it exciting to start on a new path. New projects get tackled with much enthusiasm around here. This site isn’t so much a new project as it is a consolidation of many projects. Right now I have a lot of spinning plates. I own a marketing company that represents a variety of clients. (I like to tell people that I represent the pretty and the talented in no particular order!) The jobs that I have through this company could be anything from running social media for people to writing content for their website or just giving them ideas for marketing their…

Review: Escaping the Cauldron by Kristine McGuire

    November 15, 2012 / No Comments

Escaping the Cauldron by Kristine McGuire Reviewed by: Lori Twichell Genre: non-fiction Publisher: Charisma House Publication Date: September 5, 2012 Kristine McGuire was raised in a Christian home. She married a Christian man and had two children. Her life seemed perfect from the outside. But inside, she was in turmoil. From a young age she found herself fascinated by the supernatural and even as she was teaching pre-school at her church and sitting in Sunday service, she began to explore the occult. Like many of us, Kristine dipping her toes into things that she knew weren’t good for her wasn’t enough. After struggling with temptation for years, her marriage in jeopardy and…
