Book Review: Paige Turned by Erynn Mangum

Paige Turned by Erynn Mangumpaigeturned
Genre: Chick Lit
Publisher: Tyndale House
Publication Date: April 1, 2014

Paige Alder has a new job, a new boyfriend and her life seems to, for the most part, be in order. She enjoys what she’s doing (even though it means she’s got a lot of caffeine running through her system) and she’s helping both her sister and her best friend get ready for their upcoming weddings. (Honestly – who else but Paige could end up a bridesmaid in two weddings within just a few weeks?)

So why is Tyler acting so strange whenever they see each other? Could he be getting ready to break up with her? Should she ignore the worried butterflies in her stomach or approach and ask him? Will she end up alone again? And what about Luke? Does he really want her back? Why does he keep hanging around whenever Paige needs peace?

The third outing from Erynn Mangum’s Paige Alder series keeps Paige in stress up to her ears in fine fashion. With all of the anxiety we’ve come to know and expect from Paige, she doesn’t disappoint. (Though I admit, this time around, I’d hoped Paige might have grown a little more into her adult lifestyle.) When Paige finally discovers why Tyler’s been acting so strange, it opens up a whole new can of worms for Paige to handle.

The spiritual lessons in this one are good for all of us to remember. How far does forgiveness go? Are we required to really forget it all? How does that look in everyday life? These aren’t easy topics to tackle, but Mangum does it with a good dose of ice cream and Chinese takeout.

If you enjoy lighthearted and fun chick lit, you’ll enjoy this wrap to the Paige Alder series  – though you should be warned – when it ends you might be looking for more to the story!

Rating PG: nothing in here to worry about. Some things might need some parental guidance, but really even tweens can read these books with ease.
