Thalli understands what it means to be in a fight for survival. She has spent her young, genetically engineered life trying to fit in with everyone else. Even though she’s not supposed to have feelings or emotions, she does. And curiosity? She possesses that in spades.

In the first book in this series, Anomaly, Thalli struggled to keep herself in line with everyone else. Though scheduled for annihilation because of her differences, she managed to escape with three other people. Luminary picks up where Anomaly ends.

When Thalli and her group begin their trek over 900 miles away from everything they’ve ever known, there’s no telling what will happen. Rumored to be full of radiation, they could die just from breathing the atmosphere. But there are supposedly pockets of survivors and other scientists out there. Perhaps Thalli, Berk, Rhen, and John can learn to survive and make a difference.

I enjoyed Anomaly when I read it. It felt like a mind bending YA dystopian read. This book kicks everything about the first book to a new level. I didn’t just enjoy Luminary. I devoured it. I was completely unable to stop myself from turning another page just to see what would happen next. The desperate lack of sleep in my house today can be directly contributed to Krista McGee’s incredible storytelling.
With whiplash speed, Thalli’s story unfolds into something that’s so much deeper than anything Anomaly led us to believe. Twists, turns, new characters, and new worlds practically explode from the pages of this book.

I can’t even say that I was engaged while reading. I was driven. I became personally invested in Thalli’s journey. This is more than just a surface adventure though. Thalli’s journey is full of discovery and wrapped in spiritual truths that any of us can understand. Who is the Designer? Does He really care about me? If He created all that exists, why am I important?

This series, as it stands right now, easily stands next to any of the other popular YA dystopian fantasies that are popular right now. Enjoy Hunger Games, Divergent, Pandemonium or The Selection? Without a doubt, you must pick up your copy of this series today. Do not delay. You’ll be so glad you read it.

As for me, I’m scrambling to figure out how long I’ll have to wait to read the next one. I hope Krista and Thomas Nelson have mercy on me and allow an advanced copy to come my way. I really need to know what happens next!
