Subscription Box Review: Once Upon a Book Club

You guys know I love subscription boxes. I mean I really, really love them. I think it is really cool to get a box every month and be surprised by what is inside. Unfortunately, you can’t always guarantee that a box is good. Sometimes you get duds. Seriously I got a box once that had all this stuff free floating in it – looked like someone had cleaned out their junk drawer!

I also love books. That’s a fact that is pretty well documented by the fact that I own Fiction Addict and Radiant Lit. At the beginning of the subscription box phase, I tried a couple of book themed boxes. But I have to be honest, I was really disappointed by the ones I tried. They had a few literature things in them and maybe a book or two. I had one that just sent me old copies of books. But they weren’t worth the value, so I gave up on bookish subscription boxes.

Recently though, Jill Hart called me up and said we should do a feature on book subscription boxes. Honestly, usually I’m the big idea person and Jill just puts up with my crazy (she does it with much grace and style too) but in this case, she beat me to it and I’m SO GLAD SHE DID.

To start off this crazy venture, I reached out to several big subscription boxes and I’ll be honest, we didn’t hear great things from everyone. But the very first people we reached out to were AMAZING and I’m so glad cause this is the box I wanted to try the most! Once Upon a Book Club not only sent a box to me but one to Jill as well so we could both review!

When Jill and I decided to move forward with this bookish subscription adventure, we were really excited. We’d done a lot of research and we knew a few boxes that we were really eager to get into. Thankfully, our first choice of box answered us right away and Jill and I both got subscription boxes.  Once Upon A Book Club is amazing.

Now the interesting thing about this particular subscription box is that it’s interactive. You don’t just get a book and bookish type swag. You get book related swag. What’s that mean? Well, as you’re reading, when you get to specific pages, you have presents to open. Yeah. They’re wrapped and decorated too. IT IS SO COOL. Each one is marked with the individual pages on it so you know where to open when you’re reading. And in case you might forget, there are sticky notes inside each book that tell you to go open a gift now. Seriously – this is the most amazing subscription box I’ve ever had.

Here are some pictures of the box I received.

As you can see, there’s quite a bit in the box – and each envelope or box is not only wrapped adorably, but it’s marked with the corresponding page number for you to open. And guys, MY BOX WAS SO COOL!!!!!!

Seriously – I got a bracelet and a necklace and a WATCH. A real watch that was engraved just like the character’s watch. Check out the pictures below.

The book that I received to review in my box was called Love and Gravity by Samantha Sotto.  You can check out my review of the book here.  In short, I LOVED THIS BOX! If you are going to look at book themed subscription boxes, Once Upon a Book Club is DEFINTELY the box for you.
