Lexie Baltimore is a sculptor with a mission from God. Each time she dreams a face she goes to her studio, sculpts that face into a bust and then watches for where and when she will meet that person. God nudges her to the right place at the right time and then her mission is done. This time though, things get a little more personal. The face that she sculpts is that of a handsome man name Nate who is a pastor of a local church.

When she meets Nate, it’s not a mission like anything that she’s done before. Rather than something relatively quick or simple, the mission with Nate begins to consume Lexie and it invades every portion of her life. What she doesn’t realize is that Nate is on a mission as well and it’s very much not from God.

I loved the premise of this book from the very first page. The idea of someone receiving missions from God in such a creative way struck me personally. I loved the characters, the conflict and the amazing twists that the story took. Lexie’s conflict over what she should and shouldn’t do regarding her husband and his faith is powerful. The struggle is real and painful. At times, I wasn’t sure which choice she should make in how to show her husband God’s love and faithfulness. This, to me, is the hallmark of a great writer. Dineen Miller wrote a story that allowed me to get into Lexie’s skin and feel the difficulty first hand.

As the plot snaked through frightening places and promises to go even deeper, I couldn’t put the book down. At not even halfway through, I planned that I would finish the book the next day. Instead, I found myself reading into the wee hours of the morning until I was done. It was too thrilling to even consider putting down.

This book was an incredible journey. To say I enjoyed it would be a gross understatement. If you are married to a nonbeliever, are an artist or have ever just felt that you were struggling with something God wanted you to do, you’ll enjoy this book.
